Postdoctoral Research Associate Position

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in the group of Prof. Kumar Varoon Agrawal in the Institute of Chemical Sciences & Engineering (ISIC) at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

The laboratory of advanced separations at EPFL, Switzerland is developing material chemistry and engineering routes to fabricate high-performance membranes for carbon capture. The laboratory is highly multidisciplinary with focus on fundamental science on material synthesis and characterization but also on engineering aspects on scale-up. This opening is sponsored by our industrial collaborator (Shell) for a postdoc position focusing on scale-up aspects of
nanoporous graphene membranes yielding record-high carbon capture performance.

The role and the ideal candidate:
1. The ideal candidates should have recently obtained a PhD in chemical engineering/mechanical/engineering/chemistry/material science.
2. They should possess a strong interest in solving challenging problems marked by success in previous roles.
3. The candidate must be proficient in written and spoken English.
4. Prior experience in membrane-based research would be a bonus.

Additional information:
Salary on appointment will be CHF 83,600 (plus social security) per annum or higher depending upon qualifications. The initial contract will be for a period of one year, extendible up to four years.
