Polyacrylonitrile: exploring new boundaries of well-known polymer

Many new (co-)polymers are reported every year in the literature, and some new polymers and novel membrane materials demonstrate outstanding performance as the membranes for separation of gases or liquids. However, wider industrial implementation of the membranes is hindered by many reasons, including the materials cost, polymer stability under operation conditions, and upscale production of membranes and modules at an industrial scale. In this EMS webinar, Dr. Alexey Volkov will outline Polyacrylonitrile as a promising, durable polymeric material for the fabrication of membranes for different applications.

Dr. Alexey Volkov is Visiting Professor of Biological and Environmental Science and Engineering Division, Advanced Membranes and Porous Materials Center in KAUST. In 2017, he received his Ph.D. in polymer science and membrane separation. From 2009, he was deputy director of TIPS, Russian Academy of Sciences, and head of Polymeric Membranes Lab. in the same Institute from 2018. Alexey is an EMS Council member and a board member of WAMS.
