Richard Maling Barrer Medal
The Richard Maling Barrer Medal for Membrane Science and Technology, consisting of 10,000 € plus a lifetime membership in the European Membrane Society, is awarded to an individual to recognise outstanding work of exceptional significance in the area of membrane science and technology. Richard Maling Barrer was one of the pioneers in the membrane field with extensive and significant research on membrane material and gas transport. This award is given by the European Membrane Society to honour Professor Barrer memory and to recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions that have significantly advanced membrane science and technology.
Eligibility
Anyone working in membrane science and technology is eligible to be nominated (except for current Council members of the European Membrane Society).
Nominations
Nominations should be submitted by a current member of the European Membrane Society (EMS), not directly by the nominee. Current members of the EMS Council cannot submit the nominations.
The nomination package should include:
(1) A cover letter describing the nominee’s contribution and its importance to the field of membrane science and technology;
(2) Three additional letters in support of the nomination;
(3) Supporting Materials – a complete list of the nominee’s publications, patents, technical reports etc., and pdf copies of 4 selected essential outputs.
Deadline
The deadline for the complete nomination package submission to the EMS Secretary (via email ems@chimie.ups-tlse.fr) is January 31st 2022, 23:59 h Central European Time (CET).
Evaluation
A panel of referees will review nominations with final decisions made by the EMS Council. An award will only be made if there is a nominee whose contributions are sufficiently outstanding to warrant the prestigious medal. Medal winners will be presented during the Euromembrane 2022 conference.
